Something I feel is painfully underdocumented is the representation of autistic characters in anime and other shows. as an autistic myself its pretty easy for me to spot autistic traits in characters and see them in myself or other autistic people i know personally. Sometimes these kind of things shown in other's characters seems obviously self-inserty enough to give the idea that it might even be projection of the author themself, usually seen in stuff like main characters. its surprising how much of these details in others work can be applied to the problems they might be facing themselves in their day-to-day lives, and whether due to less accepting environments or just personal subconsious this stuff is noticed to be 'coded' into characters often by fellow online autistics. this type of culture can be even seen most on googles front page; a lot of the time when googling 'is [this anime character] autistic?' your only result would be from the twitter Autistic Character OTD account, which despite being googles reccomended result for these searches, is extremely informal and unprofessional, as opposed to character wikis where this kind of information should be stored, not to mention how the majority of the time the reccomended results from this account usually only have the tweet specify the claim itself to be only a headcanon, due to the character being 'autistic coded' or just as a personal comfort for others to project themselves further onto the character, both of which being said on the front page of google is super misleading.
