june already! happy summer holidays!
that jh9kd update i mentioned in the last newspost hasnt had much progress since i was focusing on my other major project and also my utauloids (which will be on the neocities very soon!). im kind of simultaneously productive and also spreading myself out really thin with all of the stuff ive wanted to do so i end up seeming like i havent done that much at all, but as i close up a lot of loose ends with long term projects this year im hoping that'll be less of the case. honestly, im probably not going to work on it this following month because my intentions are to join a gamejam and make a brand new!!! visual novel!!! isnt that exciting?
...oh yeah! and speaking of UTAUloids. i made this design earlier. i like to call it 'YAOILOID9000'. its what he would be called if he was an utau. i have no clue what a yaoitron utau would sound like though so it probably wont ever come to fruition. i have a very specific idea in mind for what yaoitrons voice must sound like, you see, but the voice i have in mind is basically horrible in every way it could be for an utau. shitty crunchy audio quality, completely deadpan and monotone... yeah, itd sound like shit. i could probably theoretically still jive with a yaoitron utau that leaned really hard into the crunch in a more appealing way though, like this butchers vanity cover using acme iku, just more masculine. this will never exist but its fun to think about.
this month, i want to show... some art i commissioned??? that's not something id normally do since my preference would be to hype up art by fans, but i think this art may never be shared to the internet otherwise, so this is probably as good an opportunity as any. this is by battleguitar. im not someone who frequently commissions artists, but if im a long time fan of one then it's something i occasionally invest in, and battleguitar happened to be someone whos art ive always seen quite fondly. his technique with rendering is really pleasing to me. Anyways, i made him draw yaoitron for money, and i really liked the end result.
actually, ive commissioned 3 more pieces of art of yaoitron prior to this too. one by fabricicici (fig 1), and another by some guy on skeb (fig 2 and 3). i do think that the end result seemed to be better for the artists i was already familiar with though rather than with the random who caught my eye on skeb, so ill probably only commission those im familiar with in the future. although, i do think that fanart of my ocs will ultimately always mog commissioned/traded art, since the most important element is understanding the characters context and personality in order to put their soul into the drawing. even if youre unconfident in your skills, i hope you know that your fanart will always be valuable on those merits! when i think about it, the whole 'the characters personalities manifesting in the drawing' thing is definitely why my favourite fanart is usually stuff thats situational and/or directly reflects the story and character dynamics in some way. its that carnal desire inside of you that wants nothing more than for people to write fanfiction of your ocs.
thats all. bye bye.
